Just weeks after suing Google for patent infringement related to that company's use of Java technology and the OpenJDK, Oracle Corp. pledged to roll out new versions of the very same Java Developer Kit. OpenJDK releases, still adhering to the original Sun Microsystems' defined licensing model, will serve as the basis for Oracle JDK 7 and JDK 8, due in 2011 and 2012, respectively, according to Thomas Kurian, Executive Vice President of Oracle Product Development.
