I think that when you show message in discussion, you should include more information about the author, not only his name. The solution is to include link to the customer's profile (showing his name, mail, threads and so on). Profiles could be seen only by site members (to prevent spam).
By the way, it would be great to be able to change password and edit profile. And to specify which information from profile is "public" (i.e. visible by site members).

I agree, it would be great to be able to see more info on some of the participants. And to be able to change my profile too.
