I totally agree with you. Flex is exactly what Java developers need, except the price tag will only attract a few corporate clients.

I did write a small application using MX (not MX 2004 though).
I found the Flash programming model quite confusing: I can't see an overview of the code I've written. Only when I give the right subwindow focus does my code appear.
