General J2EE: Form authentication in JBoss thru Dispatcher

  1. Hi
    I have just started using JBoss. Need some help on a problem we are facing. We are using form authentication methodology. The only deviation we take is that we forward the request to a servlet and then forward the request using the requestDispatcher. We are getting a page not found error now. What has to be done ? Any Inputs???

  2. J2EE or Custom security[ Go to top ]

    Hi,

    Do you want to use the J2EE security or create a custom one? If you want to do the first you should specify you Form in the web.xml. The form should look like this:

    <FORM ACTION='j_security_check'>
    User: <INPUT TYPE='TEXT' NAME='j_username'/><br/>
    Password: <INPUT TYPE='TEXT' NAME='j_password'/>
    <INPUT TYPE='SUBMIT'/>

    The trick is ACTION='j_security_check and the name of the input fields.

  3. J2EE or Custom security[ Go to top ]

    Hi Bari,
    We are having a custom security. I tried doing the standard method i.e. by giving action = 'j_security_check' from the form. That works. But what i need to do some custom checks so I don't set the action from the form but forward the request to 'j_security_check' from a servlet. But in JBoss/Jetty, I get a page not found exception for this.
