EJB design: Pools , Security and CMP vs. BMP

  1. Pools , Security and CMP vs. BMP (5 messages)

Does 'connection pools' factor ever play a role in the remotest sense in order to determine whether we should use Container Managed Persistence or Bean Managed Persistence.

Also , what role does 'security' factor play when deciding CMP and BMP.
    Thanks,
    Sneha

  5. Pools , Security and CMP vs. BMP[ Go to top ]

    Hi!
We are designing some Entity beans.
We are thinking about the pros and cons for of using Container Managed vs. Bean Managed.

There are 2 factors I am not sure of will play a role in deciding one above the other :
    1.Connection Pools
    2.Security.

    Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Sneha
  6. Pools , Security and CMP vs. BMP[ Go to top ]

    Hi Sneha,
Neither of these factors will play a role in deciding whether to have our bean as CMP or BMP.

    1. connection pool:
in case of CMP container will make use of connections from the connection pool inorder to do DB operations

in case of BMP also connections from connection pool can be made use of.

Note: please read my postings in threads titled,

a)How to configure weblogic for BMP and Connection Pool
b)when should we go either BMP or CMP

    2. Security:
Absolutely no influence. Both in case of CMP or BMP u'll put the security features for a bean either programmatically of declaritively (thru DD).

Pls get back to me once u r clear with ur stand about CMP VS. BMP

    thanks...hasan
