EJB programming & troubleshooting: What happens to non persistent fields in Entity beans?

  1. What happens to non persistent fields in Entity beans? (3 messages)

When an entity bean is passivated back to the pool what happens to the non-Persistent fields. Is it set to null or is the state of this variables also saved.

  2. It is not set to null, normal semantics are kept.
The state is not *saved* like persistent field state - it is not stored in a persistent store. The non persistent fields have normal Java semantics.
