Red Hat, Inc. announced JBoss Enterprise Business Rules Management System (BRMS), an open source business rules suite that enables business policy and rules development, access, and management. It builds on Drools.
Red Hat’s improved entry could reshape the sleepy rules engine sector, which lost an independent player last year when iLog become part of the IBM portfolio of companies. Besides Red Hat, rules engines are offered by IBM, Oracle, PegaSystems, Fair Issac and others.
The new release is said to include tooling that makes it easier for business side folks to program rules.
How far can easy rules making go, when do the business people have to go to the Java heads to really make things happen? What do you think?
